On October the 23rd, NTT DATA Italia participated in the Demo session at the Automotive Edge Computing Consortium (AECC) meeting in Berlin, hosted by Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Motor Europe, and GSMA. NTT DATA Italia presented the vision for leveraging the GSMA Open Gateway to enhance vehicle mobility, focusing particularly on roaming and future applications of Federation among Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and Telematics Service Providers (TSPs). This approach facilitates seamless access to the best-matching Edge/MEC resources to meet the specific application needs of automotive OEMs.
The solution also emphasized the role of AI and ML technologies, which NTT DATA Italia is actively exploring within the MLSysOps Project as part of the EU Horizon projects. This innovative approach generated strong interest from external participants, including members of the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) attending the AECC meeting.
During the Open Innovation Week organized by NTT DATA Italia, the MLSysOps project was showcased in a presentation focused on the potential of 5G Standalone (SA) technology adoption in the enterprise market.
The event brought together representatives from leading companies, including Mediaset, Fastweb, Sky Italia, ACEA, IP Gruppo api, BNL BNP Paribas, and Crédit Agricole Bank Polska. Attendees also included a prominent mobile telecommunications operator in Italy, one of the country’s primary tower operators, a major international biomedical laser company, and a key player in the Aerospace, Defense, and Security sectors.
Additionally, members of the academic community, such as those from Università del Salento, were present, fostering dialogue between industry and academia on the transformative role of 5G technology.
Valeria Loscri of INRIA gave a talk on “Security Aspects in IoT-Edge-Cloud Continuum” at the Open Industry Day on 5G/6G, an event that brings together industry experts who present real-world use cases focused on the technology readiness, cyber resilience, and sustainability of 5G/6G technologies.
MLSysOps Project was present at the “EU Corner” of the SuperScienceMe 2024 – EU Researcher Night at the University of Calabria this September! Dr. Raffaele Gravina presented the objectives, ongoing activities, and current results of our project to the many interested attendees stopping by the project’s poster.
Valeria Loscri of INRIA was invited to TALK.CYBERCNI.fr. Watch here [linkedin] her talk on “Security Aspects in the Evolved IoT-Edge-Cloud Continuum Paradigm” and the follow-up discussion.
Spyros Lalis of UTH gave a talk about “Elevating Drones as first-class citizens in the Cloud-edge-IoT continuum“at the 2nd AIoTwin Summer School, which took place on the 16th and 17th of September in Dubrovnik. The talk presented work done at CSL/UTH during the last years on drone-based systems and how drones can become part of modern system infrastructures to support advanced sensing/actuation applications. The talk also included a short presentation of the MLSysOps project and the smart agriculture use case which uses a drone in tandem with a tractor to improve weed detection and reduce the usage of pesticides.
MLSysOps is participating in EUCEI’s Open Continuum Final Conference which focuses on the value of the EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu community research for the industry and aims to highlight the latest advancements and results of the Open Continuum CSA and the more than 50 research and innovation actions that it has supported. The event is taking place in Brussels, Belgium on June 18, 2024.
