NUBIS was at KUBECONEU 2024
On March 22nd, NUBIS contributed to the KUBECONEU 2024 with a talk titled: “Unikernels in K8s: Performance and Isolation for Serverless Computing with Knative”. This presentation explored the use of unikernels within Kubernetes (K8s) to enhance performance and isolation in serverless computing environments using Knative. The discussion focused on practical applications and benefits, demonstrating NUBIS’s commitment to advancing cloud-native technologies.
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2024, which took place in Paris, France, from March 19 to 22, 2024, marked an important milestone in its history. With over 12,000 attendees, the event set a new attendance record. Most of these participants (78%) came from Europe, with 52% attending for the first time. This impressive attendance underscores the growing importance and influence of cloud native computing.
Feel free to visit the official KUBECON page, for more information.
NUBIS was at OpenInfraDays Hungary
On June 3rd, Anastassios Nanos from NUBIS presented at the OpenInfraDays Hungary:
“Exploring Kata-Containers: Enhancing Cloud Security and Performance”.
In this talk, Anastassios Nanos provided an in-depth analysis of Kata-Containers, highlighting their role in boosting cloud security and performance. The presentation underscored the importance of secure container runtimes in modern cloud infrastructures.
Collaborative Efforts at Eurosys 2024
In a collaborative effort with the University of Thessaly (UTH), NUBIS showcased their work through a poster presentation at the Eurosys 2024 on April 23rd:
“OpenCV Hardware Acceleration with vAccel”
The poster highlighted advancements in hardware acceleration for OpenCV using vAccel, illustrating the synergy between software and hardware to optimize computational tasks.
MLSysOps was at EUCEI’s Open Continuum Final Conference
Prof. Christos Antonopoulos (UTH) represented MLSysOps in the EUCEI’s Open Continuum final conference in Brussels on June 18th 2024.
The Open Continuum Final Conference focused on the value of the EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu (EUCEI) community research for the industry, highlighting the latest advancements and results of the Open Continuum CSA and the research and innovation actions that it has supported. MLSysOps was show-cased with a roll-up banner.
Moreover, Prof. Antonopoulos participated in a panel on Cognitive Cloud, where, along other co-panelist, had the opportunity to present the progress of MLSysOps, the main challenges on the path to mature Cognitive Cloud technologies, as well as critical areas to focus on in the next round of calls. Notably, MLSysOps was also among the nominees for the “Strategic Liaisons” award presented in the conference.
3rd MLSysOps Plenary Meeting
The 3rd MLSysOps Plenary meeting took place at the University College, Dublin Ireland on June 6-7, 2024. During the 2-day full immersion meeting, the partners reviewed the current progress and participated in productive brainstorming sessions regarding ongoing and upcoming activities.
